On
my mind...
Happy New Year
As we come to the
New Year, we’ve chosen to take just a few moments to reflect
on some of the achievements of 2007 and what we can expect for
2008.
For one thing, who
cannot find the pride in their hearts at the mention of our
local student achievements? They appear in plays, they write
thoughtful school newspaper articles, try for (and often win)
scholarships, merit awards and state prizes. And along with
these achievements, we should mention the incredible attainment
of our student athletes. Win or lose, they show the strength of
character that defines our communities. The members of this
community, and the parents of children attending local schools,
and especially the children themselves, should be saluted for
their achievements. In them lies our surest hope for the future.
For another thing,
the South Hills is experiencing something of a boom in new
construction, new business openings, road widening and
repairing. Far from experiencing a slowdown, the townships in
our publishing areas are positively bursting with new projects.
The Peters Township
SourceTM enthusiastically
supports the growth of existing business and the sprouting of
new businesses in our communities. We see such developments as a
sign of strength.
Local business
provides service on a local level for all residents. It makes
life more convenient for anyone who expects high-quality service
without having to travel far.
In South Fayette,
another of our publishing areas, we will soon see ground
breaking on the Newbury Project, a visionary concept involving
residential, commercial, hotel, restaurants and stores.
Southpointe continues to add new dimensions, including
environmentally friendly buildings. A new fitness center is soon
to take shape in Bridgeville. And a new drug store is coming to
Chartiers Valley. And everywhere, restaurants are springing up,
and the growth of new businesses is keeping local chambers of
commerce busy from morning till night.
As far as our own
plans are concerned, The
Peters Township SourceTM
goes from strength to strength. Readers, advertisers, township
administrators and school districts have shown strong support
for our endeavors. In return, we can promise some exciting
editorial developments to be unveiled in 2008, including a wide
range of Special Sections all designed to strengthen our
relationships with the readers.
So, here’s hoping
every one of our readers and advertisers has a Happy New Year.
May 2008 turn out to be a magnificent year of achievement and
prosperity.
