On My Mind

There is No "I" in Team...

As publishers of The Peters Township Source, it is our pleasure to introduce you to the premiere issue...a team effort!

The Peters Township Source is a new bi-monthly publication dedicated to the simple proposition that everything included between the front and back cover is intended to meet your needs.  It represents the combined talents, energy and experience of a devoted group of trained professionals in their respective fields, who have worked relentlessly to create this magazine.  We’ve assembled the finest award-winning writers and editors, designers and photographers that may be found anywhere in Western Pennsylvania.

It is worth mentioning that when we came to choose a cover story for this first issue, there was a bit of internal squabbling. We all agreed that we wanted a topic that would show something of the sense of community that makes Peters Township such a great place to live.

With such a vibrant community life, there was plenty to choose from: take the Peters Township Library, for example. Here you’ll find a cultural hub offering programs to rival any big city library; meanwhile, over at the township building, the Parks and Recreation department delivers an impressive slate of activities, with something to pique everyone’s interest; and all around town, churches, groups, and clubs are microcosms of community togetherness.

The discussion of our premiere cover reached a very intense level, until we remembered that we were at the cusp of autumn in Western Pennsylvania – not to cover football would border on heresy. And on reflection, what would be a better way to celebrate Peters. A football night at Peters Stadium is about more than the game on the field – it’s about a large and diverse group of people finding common cause in cheering their kids, cheering their home team, and, in essence, cheering their community. In fact, Friday night football might be one of the places where a community truly comes together.

Along these same lines, we expect that each issue of The Peters Township Source will be able to create a sense of community and give you a unique look at life in the township. Our focus is on what makes a community special – the people. From feature stories about the interesting people of Peters, to the Professional Portfolios created to offer guidance on subjects of interest, the magazine is produced for the benefit of its readers. Thus, our goal is that each bi-monthly magazine entertain, inform, and perhaps energize you to become more involved.

It’s been an interesting journey moving this first issue through to completion, but seeing the end result makes the hard work worth it. If our pride in this magazine shows through, we offer no apology. But we’d like to know whether you feel the same way, that it’s worth your time and effort to see what’s inside. Feedback from readers is the lifeblood of any magazine. As we read your letters and emails, we’ll get a clear picture of what you like and dislike.

Please also visit our website, www.thepeterstownshipsource.com, to find additional photos and information about Peters Township that may not always make it into the magazine.

We look forward to hearing from you.
