Picnics and All the Trimmings
Held the second Wednesday of each month, these year-round township-sponsored picnics give seniors a chance to enjoy food, fun and, usually, free entertainment. Madeline Farkas, a longtime Peters resident who has been attending the events for as long as they’ve been held, says it’s a nice addition to the township’s already robust selection of activities for older folks, including weekly card games and monthly bus trips.
“They’re very aware of the seniors here and they make sure we have programs and that they have money in the budget for the seniors, which is really nice,” she says. The summer picnics are held at the first Peterswood Park pavilion from 3-5 p.m. This summer’s entertainment lineup includes a scavenger hunt and music by George Suhon.
